    About Me

My mission is to help you achieve the best lawn and landscape you’ve ever had! Join me in the yard and I’ll teach you all my lawn care, plant care, and landscaping secrets.

Welcome to Plant for Success! Here, you’ll find lawn care and landscaping tips, tutorials, product recommendations, and a next level understanding to maintaining your yard.

I’ve been a ‘dirt under my fingernails’ kind of guy my whole life and as I got older I became the one that friends call on when they have a question in their yard. I fully embrace this role and it inspired me to share my lifetime of green thumb knowledge with everyone.

    My Quick Backstory…

My name is Mark Melchione and I graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 2007 with a degree in Economics. At that point in my life I thought I would enter into white collar world, climb the corporate ladder and be on my way to a happy life.

After 2 torturous months inside, underneath fluorescent lights, I literally ran out of the office and never went back. Not knowing what to do next, I fell back on what I used to love doing as a kid, mowing the lawn, and landscaping. I liked it so much I started a small landscaping company which I ran for the next 6 years. During this time I serviced hundreds of properties, worked alongside other professional companies, and took several lawn care, landscaping, and gardening classes. I learned a ton in a short amount of time and have to admit I made plenty of mistakes early on.

I eventually sold the landscaping company to take on a job as a construction foreman. It was a great job where I learned a ton about the building process. I also got to design and install landscapes in the communities that we built. That was my favorite part!

We were using so many plants on our construction sites that I came up with the idea of growing my own shrubs and perennials. I figured it would be a fun way to make some extra money on the side. I dove right in and began propagating shrubs and perennials. I became obsessed and did tons of research and experimenting to produce the highest quality plants.

Eventually the obsession took over and I converted my backyard into a full blown nursery where I grow and sell thousands of plants every year…

Perennials and shrubs in one gallon containers. Plants are placed inside wooden garden boxes.

My wife Stephanie helps run the register during my plant sales, and my 6-year-old daughter Taylor loves saying hi to the customers. My dog Toby is a Morkie, and his main mission in life is to get belly rubs.

I got the inspiration to start Plant for Success from my wife. She is a successful food blogger and has taught me a lot about blogging. In fact, I currently work for her full time on her blog ‘The Cozy Cook’! She continues to encourage me to share my knowledge and love for lawn care, plants, and landscapes with the world.
